The short answer
Drag the request (a Mail message, a PDF, or text selected in Gmail) onto the notch, or right-click it and choose Prepare Papers with Kempt. Kempt reads the list in French or English, matches each line to the right paper in your name, flags what’s missing, expired or too old, and writes the reply in the request’s language. It reads everything on your Mac and never sends anything by itself.
What Kempt does that a search, or a chatbot, doesn’t
- 01
Only the right paper
A slot takes a document only if it is that paper, in your name. An insurance certificate isn’t your health card, and last July’s boarding pass isn’t a flight booking. A close match is offered, never ticked.
- 02
Your ID copy, protected
The copy is watermarked “Only for” this application, with who it’s for and the date, so it can’t be reused elsewhere. Your original file is never touched.
- 03
Checked before they check
An expired passport, a missing month in your payslips or a proof of address that’s too old is caught before you send.
- 04
Ready to send, in their order
Files are numbered as they asked, named in their language, photos turned into PDFs, and one merged PDF if you want it.
- 05
A reply in their language
French, English or Spanish, greeting them by name, listing what’s attached and what will follow.
- 06
Nothing leaves your Mac
Reading, matching and writing happen with Apple’s on-device model. No upload, no account. You press Send yourself.
Kempt reads requests in French and English today. It never sends an email for you.

Questions people ask
How do I send documents to a landlord or agency quickly?
Collect them once and keep them named: Kempt names every download as it lands. When the request comes, drop it on the notch and Kempt prepares the reply with the right papers attached.
Should I watermark a copy of my ID?
It’s a good habit: a watermark saying who the copy is for and the date makes it useless for anything else. Kempt adds it to identity papers automatically, on a copy.
Can ChatGPT or Claude prepare my documents?
A chatbot can draft a list or a reply, and a coding agent can move files if you explain how. But they read your files in their cloud, don’t know which paper is really yours and still valid, and don’t watch for requests. Kempt does this on your Mac, on its own.
Does Kempt send emails for me?
No. It opens a reply in Mail with everything attached; you read it and press Send.
Does it work with Gmail?
Yes. Select the request in Gmail and drag the text onto the notch. The reply opens in Mail, or attach the prepared files to your Gmail reply.

Other comparisons
- Kempt vs Claude CodeClaude Code is a brilliant general agent for people who live in a terminal: it can rename or sort a folder when you ask, by sending what it reads to Anthropic’s cloud. Kempt is the opposite bet for your papers. It works on its own as files arrive, reads your passport and payslips only on your Mac, never ticks a near-match, and every move can be undone. Choose Kempt for paperwork; keep Claude Code for code.
- Kempt vs CodexCodex is OpenAI’s agent for code: you give it a task, it works through it with OpenAI’s models in the cloud. It can tidy a folder if you describe how, every time. Kempt is built only for your papers, and runs only on your Mac: it names each download as it lands, finds any document by what’s inside, and prepares what a landlord or consulate asks for, with nothing uploaded and no account.
- Kempt vs DEVONthinkDEVONthink is a powerful research database; Kempt keeps your files in ordinary Finder folders and does the filing for you. Choose Kempt for everyday documents and paperwork with zero setup; choose DEVONthink for large research archives.
